Rob Brown is not a stranger to Syracuse's music scene. He joined the Soft Spoken Band in 2009 as a keyboardist and trombonist. He has also played with such groups as UAD, The Black Lights and the Paul Robeson Music Company. He is a music teacher at Dr. King Elementary School where he's been for 3 years and a total of 17+ years teaching in the District. Rob attained his B.A. in Music Education from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and earned an M.S. in Music Education from Syracuse University. He has also advised and directed gospel choirs in the SCSD for 12 years where the students have earned two 1st Place finishes and one Excellent rating at three Music In The Parks competitions.

He is also a musician and Music Minister at the New Life temple of Praise Church where Dr. Ronald B. Dewberry is the Senior Pastor. He also served as an adjunct professor for the SUNY Cortland Gospel Choir at SUNY Cortland college. During his tenure which began in 2003, he and the gospel choir has competed in two National Gospel Choir Competitions in NYC, performed alongside Kirk Franklin at Colgate University in 2008, toured England in 2007 and Germany in 2009.
